BBG continues to expand its own logistics network in Europe
Berlin Brands Group is in the planning stage for shipping centers with storage space for an additional 150,000 cubic meters
Berlin, August 24, 2021. BBG is relying on the strengths of its own logistics: the company plans to massively expand its own logistics network in Europe over the next two years. BBG currently has a logistics center in Kamp-Lintfort for Western Europe, another in Bratislava for Eastern Europe, and others in Hong Kong, Los Angeles and Istanbul. In Europe, more are now to follow in Germany, the UK, Spain and France.
The strong growth with 14 own brands and the integration of the more than 20 newly acquired brands so far is reflected in a growing number of deliveries. Peter Chaljawski: "For strategic reasons, we decided in 2017 with Kamp-Lintfort to have our own shipping center in the heart of Europe. Today we can say: we did everything right."
Against the backdrop of unstable supply chains, this allows for higher inventory levels. This is particularly important for the integration and scaling of newly acquired brands, which can be made available to customers more quickly. Against the backdrop of capacity bottlenecks in many other European warehouses, BBG brands such as Klarstein, auna, Capital Sports and Blumfeldt, as well as newly acquired brands such as Sleepwise, Glaswerk and Schmatzfatz, can be shipped from the company's own logistics hubs, which are even closer to customers thanks to the development of the network.
Kamp-Lintfort, with a capacity of 55,000 cubic meters and a capacity of 40,000 parcel shipments per day, was already a milestone in BBG's history. A second new shipping center in Germany, with a capacity of more than 90,000 cubic meters, is expected to increase the total capacity for Germany to 100,000 parcel shipments per day. A logistics center in the UK will follow at the end of the year. The company is also planning its own centers in Spain, France and Eastern Europe.
Peter Chaljawski: "Setting up the first logistics center took a lot out of us, but gave us invaluable experience. We can now scale that with the construction and technical commissioning of the next centers." The company has thus built a strategic advantage over its e-commerce competitors on the one hand and current FBA brand buyers on the other.
